I know I promised a little more personal information for my second post, and I have one in the process of being written, but I had something happen today -happening now, actually – that is such an uncommon occurrence…well, I felt the need to mention it.
For about the last month, my life has been insanely busy. Let me give you a little background on why.
We left last year, for about six months, and tried our hand at relocating closer to the last family I had that I was still in contact with. Very long story, short, it wasn’t for us and didn’t work out, so we came back to our camper. This was when we both realized that living a “mainstream” life just wasn’t going to work.
When we got back, The Hubby found a part-time job punching a clock while we talked about starting a business of our own.
We kicked around several ideas before deciding that some of the work that falls under the umbrella of “Shadow Shopping” was where we belonged and began to really talk in earnest about what we had to do to make it happen.
During this time, a problem developed about getting Kid 3 back and forth to school and Kids 1 and 2 home from after school activities, so I agreed to help.
Then, Bitch 2’s car went completely down, leaving them with only Metal Man’s truck, so I started picking Bitch 2 up from work as well.
Last week, Metal Man’s truck bit the dust, too. That put me helping with all their running, plus helping out some other friends they had staying with them.
Between my own running, helping The Offspring and helping Bitch 2 and her household, I’ve felt like my feet have barely touched the floor in a month.
Yesterday, I got pretty upset that by the time I finished running for everyone, I’d missed a dinner date with The Hubby.
I guess everyone decided that today they would take it easy on me and give me a break.
Here I sit, barefoot in the office, with a cup of coffee at 2pm with no where to be and no running to do until 5pm. The housework is done, the Double Troubles (our Pug and Chiweenie) are sleeping peacefully and I’ve had time to do things I don’t always get to, like washing dishes and cleaning.
I’ve had time to take Little D, the Chiweenie who is only three months old, outside to start training him to only use the pad at night or when we’re gone, Like Big D does. It’s been nice to have a little leisure time for a change.
I’m hoping that Bitch 2 and Metal Man will have another vehicle on the road soon and then maybe I can really sink my teeth into the business.
I have made some decisions about that, though. After careful consideration, I think auditing is going to be the way I go. The Hubby mentioned earlier today that he thinks it might be for him, too
Demos and merchandising, while decent enough work, sometimes requires you to keep up with a lot of paperwork and supplies for the jobs. We are limited on space, obviously, since we live in a camper.
Doing audits requires much less paperwork and the main “supplies” is a tablet. I may have to get a mobile hot spot as well, but it’ll only be for work if I do.
I’d agreed on a relatively cheap tablet but because of me working and auditing, The Hubby has decided I need a better (more expensive) tablet. When we get our taxes back, he’ll be buying me one and I’m hoping by then I’ll have the free time to work.
I’ve been missing out on this quiet time, though, and I’m thankful to have it, even if it’s only one day.
